Our Agents

Shawn Tan - Managing Director
A migrant from Singapore, I attained New Zealand citizenship in 1999.

My background is in employment consultancy, having worked for three different trade unions as an employee advocate. I also previously worked at Immigration New Zealand, as well as various contract roles as HR Manager of a Call Centre and a Media Coordinator.

I graduated with a BA/LLB from the University of Auckland in 2006, and have since been admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor to the High Court of New Zealand.

Subsequently, I have furthered my studies, working towards the completion of a Postgraduate Business Diploma in Human Resource Management as well as a Certificate in Small Business Management.
In 2008, I stood as a candidate for a political party at the General Elections, advocating such policies as increased skilled migration and family reunification, free enterprise, lower taxation, higher education standards, greater community safety and a more multicultural society.

I am passionate about making New Zealand a culturally diverse and economically prosperous country. I believe that new migrants contribute much to their communities and the economy, and that we should reflect this welcoming spirit in our immigration policy.

To this end, I endeavour to assist all genuine applicants to settle in New Zealand and play a seminal role in shaping the future of this country. Being in a position to makes the hopes and dreams of aspiring new New Zealanders come into fruition is not only a great responsibility, but also an incredible privilege.

With Global Future, therefore, it is my vision to offer every client a successful, cost-effective and stress-free pathway to attaining their dream – be it a new place to call home, a promising career opportunity, a stimulating educational environment, or simply the opportunity to be with loved ones again.

Prior to joining the Department of Labour in 2007, I was working for one of Australia's biggest Law Firms in 1994 called Mallesons Stephen Jaques in Sydney for 2 years as an Administrator for Solicitors and Partners. I then moved on in 1997 to a satellite communication company as a Quality Assurance Officer until the company got outsourced and I was made redundant. In 1998 I then worked for Qantas Airways as a qualified Special Assistance Officer dealing with aircraft accidents and emergencies. I was also a qualified Flight Attendant, after which I was transferred to the Airport Central base as a Itinerary Officer, where I was based at the Sydney Jet base in NSW.

In 2005 I left Qantas and came back to New Zealand to live with my husband in Auckland and worked for Todds Energy, which is a company who owns most of New Zealand contracted power companies such as Contact Energy, Mercury, Genesis, and so on. I then applied for a Job with Immigration New Zealand in 2007 and was fully trained up in all aspects of immigration policy, which included visitors, students, work, permanent residence to specialist areas of the Long Term Business Visas and Investors Categories. I then left Immigration New Zealand and joined Countrywide Immigration Services as a Senior Consultant, and was responsible for providing accurate and concise information to the public as well as facilitating all applications to Immigration New Zealand, including Ministerial Appeals, Removal Authority Appeals and much more.
